It is assumed that it is always "God's will" to heal the diseases of Christians, Mormons and Mohammedans, so the prayer for the healing must be a sort of sight draft which must be paid on presentation without demur.

Of course in the case of any patient seeking Mental Healing, a deep rooted, or "Hidden Belief" can present a challenge to the practitioner.

In the case of the Christian, this might take the form of Paul's "thorn in the flesh:"

"And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations,
there was given to me a thorn in the flesh,
the messenger of Satan to buffet me,
lest I should be exalted above measure.

For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me.

And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee:
for my strength is made perfect in weakness.
Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities,
in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions,
in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong."

--- 2 Corinthians 12:7-10

If the patient has a deep inner conviction that suffering is good. Then the work of the practitioner is to remove this belief from all consciences concerned with healing, both the patient's and the practitioner.

So much for the head of this axe, which, whether it be true or false, whether it manifests faith or presumption, does not do the cutting.

The blade that does do the cutting is the same regulation blade of psychic suggestion, which operates on this wise: "You have prayed for healing: you have prayed in faith: your 'Higher Power' has heard your prayer: it is by sovereign will that you should be well: now you must claim the answer: your prayer has been answered --- you are recovering, recovering --- you are well!"

There you have the suggestion of health and that is what does the work every time.

THE sixth and last method is what we may call "Suggestive Hypnotism." "New Thought" followers of all kinds: "Divine Scientists," "Truth Teachers," "Mystic Scrollers," call this kind of healing "Spiritual Mind Healing."

There are many shades and grades in this general system, with a large set of practices to support the practitioner in helping the patient achieve healing.

• Meditation
• Affirmation
• Contemplation
• Visualisation
• Intentional Prayer

The first of these, meditation, provides the same fuel for the process as it provides for the previously explored form of Mind Healing by enabling the meditator to feel his or her oneness with the Divine.

The second provides persuasion through speech, in the same manner as a number of the previously explored methods.

The third provides persuasion through the patients focus on a particular object such a spiritual text with meaning to the patient. (It does not matter whether the practitoner believes the same as the patient.) The object can also be an image, piece of music, carving, etc....

Visualisation is a process similar to those taught by mesmerists in which the practitioner guides the patient through a series of images to persuade the patient to believe the illness, or problem is gone and healing has taken place.
