There are many methods of practicing spiritual concentration; some are external and others internal, but all have for their nucleus the idea of God. Sages agree that the easiest and most direct practice is the internal, through governing the thoughts and desires with silent words of Spirit.

True concentration results in the restoration of the memory, for the mind then has the power to select what thoughts it desires and to hold them as long as it wills. By ability to focus the thoughts comes the power to focus the eyes, and the sight is renewed; through mastery over the faculty of attention the mechanism of the ears again obeys the will, and hearing is regained.

We become like that which we concentrate upon, and the more at-one we are with it the more we know it. All study is concentration, and true education gives us power to know a thing by our becoming it for the time being --- the essence and very heart of it.
