Of all the kinds of false preachers, Jesus draws attention to only one as needing especial watchfulness, the kind that speaks fair words, but whose inward thoughts are not one with the utterances of his lips. They come with the clothing, the outward form of the Lamb, symbol of meekness, docility, harmlessness, purity, and nonresistance; but covetousness, pride, lust, ambition, and cruelty are the untamed animals within, the ravening wolves which you, as the good shepherd, should quickly discern if you would keep your flock, spiritual thoughts, intact.

The words, "Take heed to yourselves," show that the act concerns one's self principally. Look out for the false prophets, evil thoughts, and worldly beliefs in yourself. Be able to deal with your own thoughts and suggestions, and you will know how to look upon those of others.

By not allowing personal sense, or desire, to have one's own will and way, or fear, or policy, or greed of fame and gain, or any other false motive to prompt us to use the arguments of
