apparently through Divine power. When a new spiritual idea is borne to earth, the Prophetic Scripture of Isaiah is renewedly fulfilled, 'Unto us a child is born -- and his name shall be called Wonderful.'"

The author of this illuminating statement again pays a high tribute to Jewish thought, for she does not hesitate to quote a Jewish Prophet in reference to her own discovery of spiritual truth. The passage in question is one of the typical Messianic passages found in the Jewish Bible. Ever since the rise of Christianity and the appearance of the New Testament, all such passages have been interpreted as referring to the Christian Messiah. As a matter of fact, not one of them can be so taken, and in recent years, Biblical scholars -- themselves Christian -- have given up the Christological treatment of all the Messianic Prophecies in the Jewish Scriptures. In fact, each passage can be historically referred to a Jewish king or leader, living in the age in which the passage was written.
