3 For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy.

Confidence in God as the foundation, the ultimate Rock (verse 4). The continual abiding in the tabernacle, i.e., the inner place, curtained all round and above, closed in from all winds, thus enabling the soul to preserve its true form, where also is the altar of incense.
The heritage (verse 5) = full possession of God. “The King” (verse 6) is the same that is mentioned in Ps. XLV. He abides for ever, because he is preserved by Mercy (or Love) and Truth --- not only received from God, but as being his own principles of life.
