12 Let the field be joyful, and all that is therein: then shall all the trees of the wood rejoice.

The keynote in this Psalm is rejoicing (Sing) in “God” as Beauty and Strength --- the two go together --- and this glory is that of the Divine Name (verses 1, 6, 8). This Beauty is that of Holiness,” i.e., Wholeness (Hale, heil, heilig), which is the Divine Name, viz. יחךד׀ And ultimately it is found to be the secret Name of God, which no one knows save those to whom it is revealed, and which they do not repeat and cannot communicate. This Secret Name of God is the correlative of the Hidden New Name given to “him that overcometh” (Rev. 11: 17), and Jesus also says that “the sheep” are called each “by name” (John X: 3). The difference between idols and the Living God is pointed out (verse 5): The Living One makes. The knowledge of the Strength and Beauty of Wholeness contained in the Divine Name is Salvation, and this daily (verse 2) --- “ that we might be saved from the hand of them that hate us and serve him without fear.” “Give unto the Lord glory and strength” (verse 7). This is not inversion but uprightness. It is the principle of impressing a certain character upon the Universal Mind, which it then Reflects upon us. As a consequence
