Ella Wheeler Wilcox's

New Thought Common Sense

"Evolution is better than Revolution. New Thought Library's New Thought Archives encompass a full range of New Thought media from Abrahamic to Vedic reflecting the ongoing evolution of human thought. New Thought's unique inclusion of science, art and philosophy contrasts with 'old thought' Religion. Today's 'New Thought 3.0' teaches personal responsibility, self-development, human rights and compassionate action as essential spiritual paradigms." ~ Avalon de Rossett

To bestow alms and live righteously,
To give help to kindred,
Deeds which cannot be blamed ---
These are the greatest blessing.

To abhor, and cease from sin,
Abstinence from strong drink,
Not to be weary in well-doing
These are the greatest blessing.

To be long-suffering and meek,
To associate with the tranquil,
Religious talk at due season ---
These are the greatest blessing.

Beneath the stroke o' life's changes,
The mind that shaketh not,
Without grief or passion, and secure ---
These are the greatest blessing.

On every side are invincible
They who do acts like these;
On every side they walk in safety ---
And theirs is the greatest blessing.

For never in this world does hatred cease by hatred; Hatred ceases by love; this is always its nature.

One may conquer a thousand thousand men in battle, But he who conquers himself alone is the greatest victor.

Let a man make himself what he preaches to others; The well-subdued may subdue others; one's self, indeed, is hard to tame.
