Of course the science is invulnerable, and cannot be hurt; and every weapon aimed at it by prejudice and ignorance, or by jealousy and malice, will act as a boomerang, and only strike the one who hurls it.

When Peter and John were tried before a council of Scribes and Pharisees for teaching this same doctrine, Gamaliel, who was held in high esteem, remonstrated against the proceedings. Jew as he was, he seemed to have a noble sense of justice in this case, worthy of emulation.
