this great utterance means? I do not merely reiterate the statement to-day I ask you to consider with me some of its implications. Much light is given us by the beloved disciple who made this fundamental statement. It is because of the Father's love that we are what we are, on account of that love that Jesus was sent, and love is said to be the test of all our life, as well as the basis of all true knowledge. Behold what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called children of God. . . . For this is the message which ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another. . . . He that loveth not abideth in death. . . . Hereby know we love because he laid down his life for us. . . . Love is of God and every one that loveth is begotten of God, and knoweth God.'
