"The word 'genesis' means the act of producing, giving birth or origin to anything, the process of originating or forming. The book is the record of an eternal method, a never ending action. Its first statement explains the origin of all existence and proclaims God, heaven and earth, to be a trinity in unity, co-eternal as Creator, Creative action and Creation.

"As true as the time honored mathematical axiom that the whole is equal to the sum of all its parts, so is it true that God is equal to the whole --is totality.

"As in the science of numbers all figures are the repetition of one and that one repeated appears as different forms, giving a variety of figures each representing the number of times the one has been repeated, so in Divine Science the starting point is the unit, the One God. The symbol of the Divine method of Creative action is to be found in the science of numbers; all forms, simple and complex, are the expression of the One --- they exist as the One revealed and are 'members one of another.' Hence the variety of living forms is as numerous as is the unlimited possibility of the Creative principle to produce them, which is the unlimited power of God to express Himself.
