THE BOOK OF JUDGES.

History of the nation from Joshua to Samson. The Judges formed temporary heads in particular centres, or over particular groups of tribes; Barak in the north of Israel, Gideon in the centre, Jepthah on the east of Jordan, Samson in the extreme southwest.
