"And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth"; and it was so. Individualities are the lights in the firmament, which is eternally resting in God, and their state is the heavenly harmony of His own idea. They are to give light upon the earth --- not in heaven, for they are the idea of light eternally in the firmament of heaven, and they all exist in the "Son in the bosom of the Father."
"And God made two great lights, the greater light for the rule of the day, and the lesser light for the rule of the night. He made the stars also."
The "greater light" is knowledge innate, pure intelligence. Its rule is the activity of the Creator's innate idea of heaven and earth; the expressing of the word that is with God in the beginning, which is "the true light that lighteth every man that comes into the world."
The "lesser light" is the expression, the intellect distributive with all its capabilities of knowing and reasoning according to truth, classifying and discriminating and letting light shine out in all our ways the same is the rule of the night -- what is looked upon with the natural eye.
