of Egypt to Israel that he come and dwell there; the promise is made, "Ye shall eat of the fat of the land." This call from Egypt is heeded, and the third step taken. Israel moves with all his family to the new land where plenty is and feels well satisfied with the change, for we find him a little later blessing Pharaoh. Let us find an interpretation of this in our own spiritual experience.

A "famine" is a dearth, a barrenness, a lack. A famine in Canaan would signify a serility in Consciousness of Spirit, a lack of confidence or faith in Spirit. It comes in our experience when our thought does not see anything substantial in Spirit, does not understand how the Invisible can be a source of supply for our needs.

There is never any lack in Spirit; the lack is in our realization of Spirit's Power and Presence, our blindness to its Fulness which is for us.

It is written, "But my God will supply all your need," but thought in its ignorance does not hear aright this promise of supply from within, hence sees no possibility of its fulfillment here and now.

Man does not believe that Spirit can supply the earth with every good thing; he sees nothing in. Spirit to satisfy his present desires; he cannot receive the unlimited assurances of Truth which comes from within, for he does not hear them; so
