Consciousness. There is danger both to the leader, and to those that are led by personality, or by individual opinion; to the leader lest he usurp the place of Divine authority and claims to be the guiding voice. This is illustrated in the experience of Moses.

At one time in the journey from Egypt to Canaan, we hear the Israelites murmuring against Aaron and Moses because there is no water to drink. "And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying, Speak ye unto the rock before their eyes, and it shall give forth water, so thou shalt give the congregation and their beasts drink. And Moses and Aaron gathered the congregation together before the rock and said unto them, Hear now, ye rebels; must we fetch water out of this rock?

Num. 20: 10, 12

Ex. 9: 16

And the Lord spake unto Moses and Aaron,

"Because ye believed me not, to sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore ye shall not bring this congregation unto the land which. I have given them."

We have been slow to catch this lesson; it shows us plainly that if any individual leader claims power even to bring forth the water of life from its source, if he claims that power to be his own, individually, he dishonors Truth, because he fails to sanctify, or to hallow, the Infinite and Universal Power, which may work alike in all who turn to and obey it. For this mistake Moses never entered
