It was through David that the group of Israelitish tribes became a powerful nation. Israel began to feel that it had a mission in the world, and this conviction never died, even in the darkest hour. David had no fear of anything in the external. Without proof, David trusted the indwelling power.

Stone --- Truth. The battle is the Lord's.

Seventh verse is a lesson not to compare. Twenty-ninth verse, Saul was afraid of David.

We make an enemy of things we fear.

Proved that David had Saul in his power, but was kind and did not harm him.

Saul appreciated his kindness for a time.

Death of Samuel.

Saul was sore distressed and seeks among the dead, seeks the witch of Endor in the night. He asks for Samuel. Samuel said to Saul, "Why hast thou disquieted me, to bring me up"? He tells Saul what is coming to pass.
