"Arise and save us." But where are thy gods -- let them arise, if they can save thee in the time of thy trouble. Thou also shalt be ashamed of Egypt, as thou wast ashamed of Assyria. We always turn to God in our extremity.

Nations, everybody outside of Israel. Circumcise, cut off belief in the external as cause.

God's command not concerning burnt offerings or sacrifices, but "Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and ye shall be my people. Walk ye in all the ways I have commanded you, that it may be well unto you."

Jeremiah's lament.

Jeremiah proclaims God's covenant, "Hear ye the words of this covenant, and do them."

Flesh used as sense. Telling the Law not a curse. Making flesh his strength. It is the Spirit that quickeneth. One who trusts in God, sees.

"Thy words were found and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, 0 Lord God of Hosts." This is the cause of his rejoicing. My name is my nature; called by the character of God. When we drink in these words and realize them, that is "eating the words."

A glorious high throne from the beginning is the place of development, because they have forsaken the Lord, the fountain of living waters,
