Dan. 8 Dan. 10: 7 Matt. 24: 15 |
Vision of rain and he-goat. Gabriel interprets the dream. Daniel sees a glorious. The man comforts him.
Last chapter, prophecies of the fall and rise of Israel and other nations the restoration of the Jews and the establishment of the final universal kingdom of Christ Jesus speaks of Daniel as a prophet. An allusion is made to him. Heb. 11:33-34. His writing not strictly prophetic. It has a far wider range, disclosing philosophy of history revealing to the Jews the great mission destined for them in the regeneration of mankind.
Thus, with. Ezekiel, the latter portion of the book of Daniel forms the connecting link between the prophecies of the Jewish dispensation and the more universal revelation of Jesus and his followers.
Daniel was supposed to have died at Sheshan, Persia, about 500 B. C., age near 94 years. His advanced age being the probable reason why he did not return to Judah with other Hebrew captives under proclamation of Cyrus (Ezra 1:1) B. C. 536, which marked the end of the 70 years captivity.
