Amos 5: 15

Amos 8: 11

Amos 9: 11, 14-15

"Hate the evil and love the good." We do not hate anything, not even ignorance. Rom. 12:9.

This is not a much higher statement. "To depart from evil (or ignorance) is understanding." We never get rid of evil by hating it we are to give up the belief in it as a reality.

The real famine.

"In that day will I raise up the tabernacle of David that is fallen--I will bring again the captivity of my people of Israel; they shall build the waste cities and inhabit them, and I will plant them upon their land, and they shall no more be pulled up out of their land which I have given them, saith the Lord thy God."

OBADIAH. . - p. 270

Obadiah means "servant of the Lord." He prophesied before the destruction of Jerusalem and conquest of Edom. As Nahum foretold the downfall of Assyria and Habakkuk that of Chaldea, so Obadiah predicts that of Edom.

Ob. Chapters 1 to 8

Ob. 1: 3

Ob. 1: 4-16

Ob. 1: 17-21

Very similar to passage in Jeremiah 49:14.

The Edomites fancied themselves secure in the fastnesses of their rocks.

The spoiler should utterly destroy them.

The deliverance of Judah. All those who are saviours. "And saviours shall come upon Mount Zion to judge the Mount of Esau; and the kingdom shall be the Lord's."
