place trying in every way to prepare them for the great event; the greatest the world has ever witnessed.

Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven'? Jesus teaches real humility.

"Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched." Matt. 3:12. For there is that in you that will never die; even the hottest flames of Love's refining fire that destroys all ignorance, but it, the soul in man, cannot itself be destroyed (quenched). "If thine eye offend thee, pluck it out" --- if your view, though sagacious and intellectually powerful, give it up; better to realize the Universal Presence without your worldly talent than to suffer in the refining flames through which all must pass. God's love is a consuming fire. "If thy foot offend thee " --- if your walk in life interferes with your spiritual unfoldment, abandon that way of living better for you not to feel free from the world's viewpoint, than to hold to certain things that bring you into confusion and unhappiness.

Matt.8:19-22

Luke 9: 57, 62

Jesus answers his disciples' questions, "Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of." Let those who believe in death, bury their beliefs, "but go thou and preach the kingdom of God."

"No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back (giving heed to past opinions and beliefs) is fit for the kingdom of God."
