live; and whosoever liveth and believeth in me (the Christ in you) shall never die. Believest thou this? Where have ye laid him? Take away the stone."

In reply to Martha, who said that Lazarus had been in the grave four days, Jesus said: "Said I not unto thee, that, if thou would'st believe, thou shoulds't see the glory of God?"

Then they took away the stone and Jesus lifted up his eyes and said, "Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me. And I knew that thou hear est me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me". After this prayer of realization, he could say with intelligence and power, "Lazarus, come forth" --- and, "loose him and let him go"; loosen him from the bondage of belief in death; God is the God of the living. If Jesus wept it was because of their ignorance; his tears could not have been for sympathy because he was prepared to speak the words that would bring to Martha and Mary their brother, whom they believed had gone from them.
