Now we notice that in the first account of this
turning away of thought from its Source in Spirit
there is no hint of return, but we remember that
later, when Israel left Canaan for Egypt, the Divine assurance was, "I will go with thee, and I will
bring thee back again." And in the parables of
Jesus we learn of the prodigal's departure and his return; of the destruction of the "tares," and
the ingathering of the "wheat." It was as if at
first man could not grasp such a splendid hope.
Eden seemed closed forever when it was said,
"And He placed at the east of the garden a flaming sword, which turned every way, to keep the
way of the tree of life." Later, man saw better;
he now begins to know how he may pass through
the sword, and reach the tree of Life; even
through the "fire" of purification, for he cannot
partake of the tree or source of Life, while he
holds a false belief of Life.
Those who have received the idea underlying
these lessons are ready for the high call that is
sounding through Divine Science today. It is to
accept Being wholly. We are this moment within
the Source of all, one with its Life, Mind, Substance and Truth, and of its Nature now and forever. This is the Truth that Jesus said we should
know --- not a truth outside of ourselves, but the
Truth of ourselves. There is but one I Am, but
one Principle or Mind that is Being; we are the
