THE RIVER.
I. The river in Eden has its rise in Infinite
Being, the ground of Infinite Substance in the
possibilities of God, it flows out into all expression
of God, in the hosts of heaven and earth.
"From thence it was parted, and became into
four heads." It watered the whole of existence,
it is the power of God to live all things and demonstrate all power at the same time.
The name of the first river is Pison. First,
Ehhadh, signifies joined together, many united
into one. As the different members are united
into one body, so this river represents the truth
that the living body is united with the one Spirit.
River signifies action. Pison denotes to overflow
creative action and circulation. It compasseth the
whole land of Havilah. It flows through the whole
of the creative action, where there is gold.
Havilah is to create, re-form, to supply strength
Pison covers all these. It is the power of God to
create continually. The gold, bdellium and onyx
stone stand for the richness and fulness of power
of this river in creative action and circulation, and
the abundant unfailing and eternal supply of the
source from which it flows.
It may be illustrated by the infinite variety of
thoughts circulating in Mind, and actualized in
the body in the circulation as performed by the
heart and its tributaries, thus demonstrating life,
