thought has felt, "I'm but a pilgrim here, heaven is my home." And while I dwell on ,earth, all spiritual power for good cannot be given; I must, for the present, he sustained from the earth, then, when I leave earth for heaven, Spirit will be my full supply. So the "first man is of the earth earthy," for this is the first, or infant belief that man has of himself. But his knowledge shall increase.

We find this first help from Egypt soon exhausted. As all help from without is limited, it soon fails. But the master of life says, "Whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him, shall never thirst again." He understood the full supply of Spirit, and could say, "I have pleat to eat that ye know not of." No more poverty, no more ,starvation and distress when this truth is realized; the true supply is for all alike.

When the first supply from Egypt is consumed, what can Israel do but send again? So, the second step in the descent into Egypt is taken, making the third or final step easy. Egypt is friendly, and its invitation, "come unto me," with the assurance of its ruling beliefs and opinions, "I will give you the good of the land," revived the Spirit of Jacob, we read, and he went down into Egypt Nvitli his family to dwell. By degrees, do we turn from Spirit to enter at last wholly into materiality, or material sense. It was thus with
