things not seen, makes us sing for joy before there is any outer proof.

The slowness with which we come out from under the burden of material bondage is well represented by the stubbornness of Pharaoh in letting Israel go. Not until the "judgment of the Lord" falls upon the dearest idols of material belief does the hold of materiality upon Spiritual thought relax.

Clearer light on Truth gives thought clearer judgment; by this light thought begins to see the true nature of that which has claimed its service, and to understand the powerlessness of that which claimed great power. By this consciousness which discerns more truly than the former, false claims are separated from Truth and the power of such claims is broken.

After the ten plagues have fallen heavily upon Egypt, Pharaoh bids Israel go; so, after all our idols of material good have fallen, the material lets go its hold upon us, or to put it more truly, we are able to break away from materiality, which no longer controls our thought.

Are we, from this point, free? We might be if we would!

The going of Israel out of bondage to Egypt may be compared to the flood, in which the world of the ungodly perished; for both events may stand to us as types of that stage in unfoldment
