H. Deliverance from Egypt.. - p. 148

H. In the bondage of Israel to Egypt we find perfect type of the enslavement of our thought when it wanders from consciousness of Spirit as All and chooses the material as its helper. In the Egyptians we trace a likeness to those material claims of good and ill which sway our thought while it believes in separation of body from Spirit it believes that while we are "in the body we are absent from the Lord."

Canaan --- Spirit. Egypt --- body.

Bondage in Egypt is when our body has become our master, because thought has claimed it to be a cause and believes in its separation from or unlikeness to Spirit. To be delivered from this bondage to ignorance, thought must learn the truth from its foundation. It must be taught that the very basis of all life is holy and that, therefore, all manifestation or form of life is holy. Thought is to see our dependence upon Spirit, and not to conceive of dependence upon body. It is to see Spirit as Cause and body as effect. The whole body, earth, or external, is the result or effect of Spirit, emanating from within Spirit.

The external is not Cause, but Spirit made visible. And thought is to know the unity of Cause
