let the people go, give us a picture of how firmly
these material claims have taken possession of our
thoughts. We cannot throw them off without a
desperate struggle. It seems impossible to know
ourselves free from such long recognized authority, the authority of Man over Man.
Our own conceptions of power and wisdom in
personality is the Pharaoh that says, "No, I cannot let them go." Then the Lord says, "See what
I shall do --- for with a strong hand shall he let
them go, shall he drive them out of his land."
Suffering shall drive if Love does not draw.
To us first comes a dawning light of the Way, the
Truth and the Life. If we answer, "I cannot follow I cannot let go," then Love says, "See what
I shall do." The light that would lead us becomes
a consuming fire, destroying that which has held
us. Unconsciously we find our dearest ideas of
good being reversed by Truth's power and presence, that, in our opinions and beliefs, which has
blinded us to seeing God as All, begins to yield to
higher power. Our idols fall because in our clearer
light we see no good in them. Thus is that Strong
Hand laid upon us. "I will bring My people out
of Egypt by great .` judgments,' separating by My
Divine Light the true from the false in their consciousness." These judgments are typified by the
