Ephraim means fruitful. The constant re proof here is to Ephraim, that should bring forth fruit and does not. We should be wedded to God, our Source, that all we show forth would be fruit unto God.

Joel means "He that wills, or commands."

Joel was of the tribe of Reuben, son of Pethuel, and lived at the time of Uzziah.

This book is quoted by Peter, Acts 11:16-21, and Paul, Rom. 10:13.

Joel gives the usual admonitions, and urges repentance. He more than the others declares the punishment of the enemies. We find a great deal in this book about the "day of the Lord."

Joel 1: 15

Isa. 13: 6-9

This means the destruction of ignorance, light destroying darkness.

Personal opinions and beliefs shall be destroyed.
