separation, "And the Lord God called unto Adam, and said, 'Where art thou?' And Adam said, 'I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked.' "

Adam was afraid to appear in the presence of the Lord naked. This means he was afraid to appear as the Lord God made him, as God's own image and likeness. This condition in people comes from their having hid themselves in external things, "amongst the trees in the garden." The conversation which takes place between them and the Lord after this is as between two persons.

Heb. 8:9-10

To this recognition the Lord God no longer speaks in man but seems to speak to him from without; and He says to this serpent, or mental belief, "I will put enmity between thee and the woman and between thy seed and her seed, (or between thy word and her word); it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel." Discord is sensed only in the heel or visible body or form, and it is sensed there only because we mentally listen to impressions made from observation, and let them voice themselves or take form in word and deed, and thus reject the consciousness or true conception and birth.

"The seed (or word) of the woman shall bruise thy head," means that her Word shall destroy the serpent; her word being truth, it shall destroy all the seeming life, power, substance and
