The fourth chapter of Genesis represents the dual belief of good and evil, that God and man are separated and unlike each other in their nature. Adam and Eve, who stand for the whole race, have a desire to be made wise through contradictory experiences, and they begin their effort to acquire wisdom, all that they are to have or possess; they make the mistake of trying to obtain instead of attaining, of acquiring instead of Being.
