us are tempted by this.) But they look not to the Holy One of Israel (the Divine Nature of thought), neither seek the Lord. Now the Egyptians are men and not God (are human opinions and not true knowledge), and their horses flesh and not Spirit. When the Lord shall stretch out his hand (when the Divine Truth and Power shall be recognized), they all shall fall together. In this, the third verse, interprets the first, making it read spiritually thus: Woe shall come to them that go to men's opinions for help and not to Divine knowledge; who believe in flesh instead of Spirit, and trust in the visible because it seems stronger and better able to satisfy than the invisible; who look to the outer as a source of help and strength rather than to the inner.

Again we read, "Woe to the rebellious people, saith the Lord, who take counsel, but not of me; who cover with a covering, but not of my Spirit; (who seek wisdom from appearances, trust in the outer and put man's opinions above the truth of spirit) that walk to go down to Egypt, and have not asked at my mouth to strengthen themselves in the strength of Pharaoh and to trust in the shadow of Egypt; (who make great effort to conform to human laws, not recognizing Divine Law as all, who claim their strength to be according to ruling opinions in material sense, and put their trust in that which is but a shadow of good);
