therefore, shall the strength of Pharaoh be your shame, and the trust in the shadow of Egypt your confusion."

"Lo, thou trusteth in the staff of this broken reed, on Egypt, whereon if a man lean it will go into his hand and pierce it. So is Pharaoh, King of Egypt, to all that trust in him." How plain these words are. Spirit is the only Power that can help man; Spirit is the only Source that can supply man; Spirit is the only Cause of Life, Strength, Health and all good for man; therefore, satisfaction can never be found in the external until thought seeks only from the inner and by the law Divine expresses in the external what it has received from within.

One stands by the river of Life, on each side of which grows the tree of Life "whose leaves are for the healing of the Nations." Within my own being is all the sweetness and perfection of Eternal Life, which finds an image of itself in life's stream by which I pass. Mistaking the beautiful likeness in the stream for the original, I seek to obtain more perfect conditions of life from this shadow; and in doing so, lose sight of the true substance of my being; also soon lose the shadow.

From this, I learn that eternal and changeless Life, with all its perfect and peaceful conditions, with its fulness of substance all satisfying, must
